Цели урока:
- развивать умения самостоятельной работы на уроке;
- формировать лексические навыки и умения в процессе  самостоятельной  работы  над темой;
- совершенствовать навыки поискового чтения и чтения с полным пониманием прочитанного;
- развивать навыки языковой догадки и умения пользоваться изученной лексикой и грамматикой.
Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, СD-проигрыватель, разноуровневые карточки, карта достижений.

Ход урока
I. Организационный момент. Целеполагание.

Teacher: Today we are going to know more about our environment, how it influences to our everyday life. At the lesson you will read the text « Our environment», and learn some new words on this topic. Besides, you will come across the vocabulary that you can use while speaking about our environment.
The first task is to study the vocabulary in the textbook (page149, ex. 5).
If you want to get a “5” you are to do Task 1;
If you want to get a “4” you are to do Task 2;
If you want to get a “3” you are to do Tasks 3.
You will have 15 minutes to work.

The second task is to read the text and do the tasks in cards A, B, C.
If you want to get a “5” you are to work with Card C.
If you want to get a “4” you are to work with Card B.
If you want to get a “3” you are to work with Card A.
You will have 15 minutes to do the tasks. Don’t forget to register your achievements in the chart. Good luck!

II. Cамостоятельное изучение новой лексики.

Teacher: Please, learn some new words. Listen to the tape (record № 49) and repeat (page146, ex. 6).

Task1. Look at the pairs of words. In each pair there is a word you know. Read the sentences below and guess what the other word in each pair means.

• to influence- influence

• waste — to waste
• diet — to diet
• relation-to relate
• environment -environmental
• pollute — polluted
• Television has a strong influence on people.
• People often dump waste in the forests.
• Don’t waste your time, do something usefull.
• Would you like some cake, Jane?-No, thanks, I’m dieting.
• Ecology and biology relate (to each other).
• Nowadays we have a lot of ecological and environmental problems.
• The water here is polluted and dangerous to drink.
• The rivers in this part of the country are unpolluted.

Task 2. Complete the text using the new words. ( page 149, ex. 13)

Our Environment
The environment is all the things we need to be able to live — clean water to drink and to wash with, air to breathe and healthy food to eat. We can’t live without plants and animals. They help to make the soil, they clean the water and air, and they give us all our food.
The world is our home and we want to see it clean and beautiful.At the same time we take from nature as mush as we can. We cut down forests and build farms, houses, roads and factories on the land. While doing it we pollute the environment. We make a lot of waste some of them is toxic. We dump domestic and industrial waste in the country and pour toxic waste into the rivers, seas and oceans.
Cars and factories, plants, and power stations pollute the air and make it dangerous to breath.
People have to think about all these ecological problems if they want to survive.
